Santillana Del Mer, Spain August 22nd, 2014

Santillana Del Mer, Spain
During our 2 week road trip of Spain we across almost all of northern Spain from San Sebastián to Oviedo. To break up the drive we stopped to spend the night in Santillana Del Mer. Even though it's name leads you to believe it is by the ocean, it in fact is not. Our hotel was about 500 meters up a hill just outside of the small center of town.
After arriving we headed into town to explore. Our favorite part about this town was the neumorous tourist shops selling cured meats, chocolate, and pound cake.
The next morning we left and went to a monstery that was built in a cave with an accompanying church on the too of a high cliff. It was a very impressive sight. After exploring this area we had an enormous tradition Spainish lunch. It was quite delicious!
